The Right Diet for a Flat Tummy

Many dieters mistakenly believe that depriving themselves of meals is the best way to get rid of excess fat around the midsection. Skipping meals will eventually lead to overeating and defeating the purpose of your diet program.  Instead of skipping meals, you need to consume the right foods to eat to lose belly fat.  Supplements and protein drinks can help following a diet easier but they are not necessary.   Diet pills will not shed pounds unless you change your eating and exercises habits.

You may be tempted to avoid certain foods to shed pounds, but the body still requires carbohydrates for energy and protein for muscle building. Protein, in particular, helps build muscles and aids in burning fat. You’ll need to consume adequate amounts to build muscle tone and increase your metabolism.  The best sources of protein are lean meats, eggs, and fish.  These foods need to be prepared in a way to keep the fat content down.  Chicken should be skinless, not breaded, and baked.  Eggs have gotten a bad rap because of the fat in the yolk but recently studies have shown that egg yolk provide important nutrients.  Yolks still contain fat so you shouldn’t consume too many of them.  One whole egg and 3 egg whites provide about 15 grams of protein without the excess fat.

When it comes to dairy products, you should read the label for fat and sugar content. Skimmed dairy products have very little fat.  Some skimmed dairy products are made with excess sugar to compensate for the lack of fat.  Be sure to read the label for the sugar content.  The calcium from these foods will help keep your bones strong and healthy.

It is a wrong notion that foods to eat to lose belly fats exclude carbs. Even people with sculpted abs need carbohydrates for energy to fuel their workouts and every day activities.  You should try to reduce the amount of carbs in your diet but don’t exclude them completely.  You should include healthier carbs in your diet and drop the highly processed carbs.  Healthy sources include green leafy vegetables, low glycemic fruits like apples and oranges, brown rice, sweet potatoes, oatmeal, and berries.  Sugary carbs like candy, soda and juices, pancakes with syrup, and kids breakfast cereals should be eliminated or kept to a minimum.

Next in the list of foods to eat to lose belly fats is not really a food at all. It is water. Drink 8-10 full glasses or about 2 liters of water everyday. This is the all natural flush of the body, which aids in digestion, metabolism, waste excretion and all vital processes of the body. Water also aids in diluting body salt and sugar.
